ptcl dsl settings if not working properly

If you are using PTCL DSL and some of websites are not opening at your end but
working on other inetrnet connections then apply the following settings to get
rid of this issue, There is some problem going on with PTCL Broadband and
worlwide ISPs had blocked some of IPs.
Settings for XP Users
- Go to Manage Network Settings or Network Connections in windows
- Right Click and select Properties
- Then find Internet Protocol Version 4
- Click it and select properties at bottom
- at the end you would see two tabs
Obtain DNS server address automatically
Use the following DNS server
- Click on the Use the following DNS server and put the IPs as mentioned below
Preferred DNS server : 208.67.222.222
Alternate DNS server : 208.67.220.220
- Press OK
Settings for VISTA Users
- Go to Network and Sharing Center and Select Manage Network Connections
- Right Click and select Properties
- Then find Internet Protocol Version 4
- Click it and select properties at bottom
- at the end you would see two tabs
Obtain DNS server address automatically
Use the following DNS server
- Click on the Use the following DNS server and put the IPs as mentioned below
Preferred DNS server : 208.67.222.222
Alternate DNS server : 208.67.220.220
- Press OK

downloading files m3list

Downloading ACB Radio Programs.
Here is the way I get the mp3 files downloaded to my hard drive, so I don't have
to listen to the streaming audio. If anyone knows a quicker way, please let me
know.
1. Go to the ACBRadio site, and locate the on-demand program you are interested
in.
2. Hit enter on the link for that program, and, if you have an audio program set
to play streaming audio, the program should start to play in that player.
3. Pause the file if it begins to play, so you can hear Jaws.
4. Alt tab back to the web page, and make sure that link is still selected, and
then hit the applications key, and select save target as, from the resulting
menu.
5. This should open a file download dialogue so you can select where to save the
file. The file you are downloading is an m3u, which is simply a playlist.
6. Once the file has downloaded, you can close the browser, and audio player.
7. Now go to the location where you saved the file, and select it, and then hit
the applications key, and select, open with from the resulting menu.
8. This will give you a dialogue from which you can select a program to open
this file. Choose Notepad from the list, and then tab to the okay button, and
hit enter.
9. Once the file opens in Notepad, you can arrow down the list of url's
contained in this file. What you are looking at, are the individual files that
make up the entire program for that program date. Make sure that Notepad is
maximized, so that when you copy one of these addressess, the entire address is
copied.
10. These files are listed in order of how the program is heard, so for
instance, the first file in the list, is the program introduction.
11. Select a file, and then make sure you are at the beginning of the line, and
then copy that line to the clipboard.
12. Open Internet Explorer, and then hit, Control + O, to open the address bar.
Now paste the url that you copied to the address bar, and hit enter.
13. You should get a file download dialogue, so just treat it as you would any
other download. This time, you are downloading the actual mp3 file that you
would hear if you were streaming the audio from the website. Now you have the
file on your hard drive, and you can listen to it at your leisure without going
on the internet.
14. Note: If you want the entire program, you will have to download all of the
files found in the m3u file. This is where a download manager comes in handy,
because you can cue up all of the url's, and the manager will take care of them
automatically. Otherwise, you can just download only the ones of particular
interest to you.
This is just a back door to files that are not available for direct download.

ArrangingIconsOnYourDesktop

It's based on whether the icons are in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop folder or the C:\Documents and Settings\your_user_name\Desktop folder. The two are sorted separately. If there is only one user on the system, simply move all the contents of the user Desktop folder to the All Users\Desktop folder and then, everything will sort from A to Z.
Whether the shortcut is placed into the individual user's Desktop folder or into All Users\Desktop is entirely up to the authors of the program's installation routine and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to what they decide. JAWS, for example, always installs into All Users, but many other shortcuts install into the user Desktop folder of the identity that installed the application.
One more fact--when there are shortcuts in both Desktop folders, those that are in All Users are sorted and appear first; then, those that are in your user Desktop folder are sorted and displayed.

adding braille embosser

Instructions for adding a braille embosser in Windows XP.

1. Go to the control panel.

2. Open, Printers and Faxes.

3. Open, Add Printer.

4. Enter on, Next.

5. In the combo box, select, Local Printer.

6. Tab one time and uncheck, Automatically detect my plug and play printer.

7. Tab to, Next.

8. Select the port, most likely LPT1 then tab to next..

9. You should have a list of printers now. just type a G until you hear, generic.

10. Tab one time and select, Generic Text Only, tab to next.

11. It will ask you if you want to keep the current drivers, so say yes and tab to next.

12. Type in a name for the printer, something like, Braille Embosser, then tab one time.

13. It will ask you if this is the default printer, most likely it will not be, so arrow down to no. now tab to next.

14. Most likely this will not be shared on the network, so make sure that box is unchecked. Tab to next.

15. You can print a test page, but not sure how the copy will come out, but you could try it.

16. Press enter on Finish.

Depending on which translation software you will be using with your braille embosser, you will need to configure it to use the generic text only drivers you have installed.
